Who are we?

 
 

Vermeulen Group is a well-established producer and trader of starting materials for tropical ornamental plants. It began operating in Africa over 30 years ago. Today, we have a number of production sites in Africa and Central America. We produce tropical young plants in their natural environments at our sites in Costa Rica, Burundi and Togo. Being a reliable supplier of young tropical plants for many years, with outstanding expertise in Dracaena plants in particular, has allowed us to become a benchmark in the plant sector and the gold standard for Dracaena.

We place great emphasis on our range, programming (both in volume and time-bound), technical quality and developing new varieties. All of this fits perfectly into our company's philosophy and allows us to focus on the synergy between the different production companies on the one hand, and our clients on the other. As well as marketing our own range of products, our logistics operations in Costa Rica also allow us to offer a very broad range of high-quality young tropical plant material.

Our focus on innovation and policy of investing in production companies and in logistics on an ongoing basis ensure that we will continue to be a trailblazer in this sector.

Meet the team

  • Herman Vermeulen
    General Manager

    Herman Vermeulen founded the Vermeulen Group 30 years ago, importing and exporting tropical plants as a sole trader. Since then, Vermeulen Group has become a global company employing hundreds of people.

     
  • Thijs Vermeulen
    Production Manager

    Thijs has been a production specialist at Vermeulen Group for 15 years. You can often find him at one of our plantations.

     
  • Joost Vermeulen
    Commercial and Logistics Manager

    Joost works on sales and client retention at Vermeulen Group; you can talk to him in English, Dutch, French, Spanish and a little Afrikaans.

     
  • Diane Truyen
    Administration

    Diane is our permanent administrative worker. She has held this role at the Vermeulen Group for 20 years, and you can contact her every Thursday.

     
  • Zani Mustafa
    Warehouse

    Zani has been in charge of our logistics for a long time now. Zani always takes over any odd job that needs doing in the company.
